Area golfers playing for Sage College

FARMINGDALE - The Sage College's men's golf team wrapped up competition on Monday at the 2012 Skyline Conference Championships.

For the second straight year, the Gators settled for the runner-up trophy as Farmingdale State captured the league title for the fifth straight year. As a result of its sixth Skyline title in the last seven seasons, Farmingdale State earns the league's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championships, to be held May 14-17 at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort in Destin, Fla.

The Skyline Men's Golf Championship was held at Bethpage State Park - Red Course and the Rams shot a 610 (308-302), while Sage picked up a second place on a 653, (326-327).

Sage junior Richie Christman, a Johnstown graduate, shot a 77 in the opening round and finished with an 81 for a two-day total of 158. He finished in fifth place overall and finished +18 for the event. He earned Skyline Conference first team all-star honors for his efforts.

Sage freshman D.J. Ioele, Johnstown graduate, finished with an 83 on Monday and had a two-day total of 174 and picked up 19th place.

After missing the first day with an injury, Sage senior Shane Kiselis, an Amsterdam graduate, carded a round of 78 on Monday to finish as the Gator low scorer.
