Cheers to The Leader-Herald for the editorial recognizing the good work the Fulton County Youth Bureau does.
Jeers to Mr. Howard for proposing eliminating yet another program without clear knowledge of exactly what this program is about. It's a program that enables youth development with an emphasis on building our community leaders of tomorrow. How embarrassing that we again hear the same words used for cutting or eliminating programs for our elderly, medically frail, mental health and substance abuse - "Is this a business that the county should be in?" The question should be asked of the supervisor from Bleecker - what business should the county be in?
No one ever said trying to find ways to cover the unfunded mandates coming down from the state was going to be easy. However, cutting programs like the Fulton County Youth Bureau appears shortsighted.
I am wondering if Mr. Howard even knows who Charis Gray is?
