Girls Soccer Roundup: Canajoharie girls blank Sharon Springs

CANAJOHARIE - Jenelle Dillenbeck scored twice to lead Canajoharie to a 5-0 win over Sharon Springs in a Western Athletic Conference Central Division girls soccer game Friday.

With the win, the Lady Cougars finished the regular season with a 15-1 overall record and a perfect 14-0 WAC mark.

"Tonight was a great night, we recognized our seven amazing seniors and finished with a perfect league record," Canajoharie coach Ellee Fichthorn said. "What a beautiful night."

Melissa Bowley had a goal and an assist for Canajoharie, while Arie Logan and Kayla Bowerman also scored.

Megan Balfe, Katherine Rockwell, Kara Schwab and Morgan Gray each had an assist for the Lady Cougars.

Stormy Young, Lauren Balfe and Dainara Veeder combined to make three saves to share the shutout win in goal.

Rory Byrnes made seven saves for Sharon Springs (0-14 WAC).

Foothills Council

Broadalbin-Perth 2, Queensbury 0

BROADALBIN - Michaela Hills and Kyle Gifford scored first-half goals to lead Broadalbin-Perth to a shutout win over Queensbury.

Katie Herba assisted on Gifford's goal.

Defensively, Heather Cheney helped keep Queensbury's Brittany LaPlant off the board for the first time this season.

LaPlant, who has 35 goals this season, had scored at least once in every game this season.

Rachel Orapello made just one save to post the shutout win in goal for Broadalbin-Perth (13-3 overall, 11-3 Foothills), which outshot Queensbury 20-3.

Sarah O'Brien made 10 saves for Queensbury (12-3 overall, 10-3 Foothills).

Northville girls postponed

GALWAY - The Northville girls soccer team had its WAC North Division game at Galway postponed by wet weather Friday.

The game was rescheduled for today at 3 p.m.

Amsterdam girls to play today

AMSTERDAM - The Amsterdam girls soccer team had its game with Catholic Central moved to today at 8 p.m. at Lynch Literacy Academy.

Mayfield girls postponed

MAYFIELD - The Mayfield girls soccer team had its Western Athletic Conference North Division game at Mekeel Christian Academy postponed by wet weather Friday.

The game was rescheduled for today at 2 p.m.
