Boys Soccer Roundup: Fort Plain clinches division title

FORT PLAIN - Marcus Failing finished with a goal and two assists to lead Fort Plain to a 5-1 win over Sharon Springs in a Western Athletic Conference boys soccer game Wednesday

The victory clinched the WAC Central Division title for Fort Plain.

Jake Sardina registered a goal and two assists for the Hilltoppers, while Will Logan, Joe Ray and Aiden VanLoan also scored.

Nick Roach scored the lone goal for Sharon Springs (0-13 WAC).

Chris Hanifin made six saves to earn the win in goal for Fort Plain (9-4-2 overall, 8-3-2 WAC).

St. Johnsville 3, Canajoharie 2

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Brandon Campione scored all three goals to lead St. Johnsville to a win.

Kyle Smith finished with two assists for the Saints (9-6 overall, 7-6 WAC).

Mike Mazzarella and Karl Gustafson scored for Canajoharie (5-10 overall, 4-9 WAC).

Galway 3, Mekeel Christian 2

SCOTIA - Andrew Izzo scored twice to lead Galway to a win over Mekeel Christian in a matchup of the top two teams in the WAC North Division.

Casey Mello also scored for Galway (14-1 overall, 12-1 WAC).

Tai Aderounmu and Kenny Aderounmu scored for Mekeel Christian (9-2 WAC).

Evan Ceroalo made nine saves for the Golden Eagles.

Schoharie 1, Berne-Knox-Westerlo 0

SCHOHARIE - Chris O'Neil scored the game's only goal to lead Schoharie to a win over Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

James Sacket assisted on the goal for the Indians (6-5-1 WAC).

Berne-Knox-Westerlo slipped to 6-7 in WAC play.

Middleburgh 5, Duanesburg 0

MIDDLEBURGH - Austin Roney finished with two goals and two assists to lead Middleburgh to a shutout win over Duanesburg.

Ryan Bechtold and Brody Smith each had a goal and an assist for the Knights, while Will Torgersen also scored.

Nick Righi made one saves to post the shutout win in goal for Middleburgh (5-6-1 WAC).

Zach Wissenbach made 13 saves for Duanesburg (1-11-1 WAC).

Big 10

Schenectady 4, Amsterdam 0

AMSTERDAM - Jhon Rojas scored twice to lead Schenectady to a win over Amsterdam.

Bebeto Roberts finished with a goal and three assists for the Patriots (4-4-3 Big 10), while Zebbie Popalozi also scored.

Andrew Cyr made three saves to earn the shutout win in goal for Schenectady.

Amsterdam slipped to 6-7-1 overall and 3-6-1 in Big 10 play.
