JOHNSTOWN - The Fonda-Johnstown girls swim team celebrated its senior day with a 93-90 win over Gloversville-Mayfield in its final home meet of the season at Johnstown High School on Wednesday.
Fonda-Johnstown won 10 of 12 events on its way to the win.
"All the girls swam really well today. The seniors led the way and their drive and determination had a positive effect on all the members of the team," Fonda-Johnstown coach Julianna Popp said. "It was clear that every member of the team was working hard to give everything they could for their last meet."

Senior Hannah Palsgraf won the 100-yard butterfly and 100 backstroke for Fonda-Johnstown and also was a member of the winning 200 medley relay team.
Senior Meghan Bartlett won the 1-meter diving competition and the 50 freestyle. In the 50 freestyle, she won by one one-hundredth of a second. Bartlett also is a member of the first-place 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams.
Senior Samantha Sweet competed for the first time in her career in diving and contributed three important points to the overall score, as well as achieving a personal-best time in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:43.66.
Fonda-Johnstown's other seniors, Morgan Casey and Tori Claburn, both turned in strong performances in all of their events and posted some personal best times as well.
In addition to the multiple wins by Bartlett and Palsgraf, Fonda-Johnstown also got two wins from Erica Askew (100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke). Cecelia Mowrey (500 freestyle) and Erica Wagner (200 individual medley) also posted victories for Fonda-Johnstown. Mowrey's win in the 500 freestyle came by just 0.11 over Gloversville-Mayfield's Mary-Kate Poulin. Mowrey and Askew also were part of the winning 200 medley relay team, while Askew and Wagner also swam on the first-place 200 freestyle relay team with Bartlett and Mackenzie Dopp.
"It's been a long time since Fo-Jo defeated Gloversville-Mayfield," Popp said. "They have a good program in Gloversville and the outcome of this meet shows how far the Fonda-Johnstown program has come in the last few years. We are excited for this win and hope to use this to build on our own success."
Poulin posted the lone individual event win for Gloversville-Mayfield, taking first in the 200 freestyle.
Gloversville-Mayfield also won the 400 freestyle relay as the team of Poulin, Taylor Wadsworth, Sara Curtis and Desiree Ives posted a time of 4:11.19.

Albany 102, Amsterdam 72
AMSTERDAM - Albany won eight of 12 events on its way to a 102-72 win over Amsterdam at Lynch Literacy Academy.
Olivia Stebbins-Hopkins (50-yard freestyle, 500 freestyle) won two events for the Falcons.
Jenna Goldfarb (200 freestyle), Elana Cohen (1-meter diving) and Fiona Leary (100 freestyle) also notched wins for Albany, which also won the 200 medley, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays.
Justine Youngs (200 individual medley, 100 butterfly) won two events for Amsterdam, while Gulianna Pritchard (100 backstroke) and Kayla Dzikowicz (100 breaststroke) also posted wins.
