JOHNSTOWN - The Fonda-Johnstown girls swim team celebrated its senior day with a 93-90 win over Gloversville-Mayfield in its final home meet of the season at Johnstown High School on Wednesday.

Senior Meghan Bartlett won the 1-meter diving competition and the 50 freestyle. In the 50 freestyle, she won by one one-hundredth of a second. Bartlett also is a member of the first-place 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams.

Senior Samantha Sweet competed for the first time in her career in diving and contributed three important points to the overall score, as well as achieving a personal-best time in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:43.66.

Fonda-Johnstown's other seniors, Morgan Casey and Tori Claburn, both turned in strong performances in all of their events and posted some personal best times as well.

In addition to the multiple wins by Bartlett and Palsgraf, Fonda-Johnstown also got two wins from Erica Askew (100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke). Cecelia Mowrey (500 freestyle) and Erica Wagner (200 individual medley) also posted victories for Fonda-Johnstown. "It's been a long time since Fo-Jo defeated Gloversville-Mayfield," Popp said. "They have a good program in Gloversville and the outcome of this meet shows how far the Fonda-Johnstown program has come in the last few years. We are excited for this win and hope to use this to build on our own success."

Poulin posted the lone individual event win for Gloversville-Mayfield, taking first in the 200 freestyle.
