DUDLEY, Mass. - The Nichols College women's tennis team has earned the No. 1 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Women's Tennis Championship and will host No. 4 seed Curry in the semifinal round today at 2 p.m. at Francis W. Robinson Courts.
The outright regular season champion each of the last three seasons, the Bison completed the regular season 11-4 overall and 8-0 in the CCC. They closed out the campaign with a 5-4 win at Endicott before winning a pair of home matches within 24 hours to collect the program's 30th consecutive CCC regular season victory. The Bison have hosted four consecutive semifinal matches - including their first-ever appearance in 2009 - and sport a 2-1 record heading into this year's matchup.
Junior Anna Dyakiv, an Amsterdam graduate, the three-time CCC Player of the Year, posted a 4-0 mark in singles and a 5-0 record in doubles this season to remain undefeated against conference opponents in her career. In three seasons, the junior is an eye-popping 52-0 in conference action including a 4-0 record in last year's tournament.
In the other semifinal matchup today, second-seeded Endicott (11-2 overall, 7-1 CCC) hosts third-seeded Roger Williams (9-3 overall, 6-2 CCC). The two semifinal winners will square off on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the highest remaining seed.
