Boys Soccer Roundup: Canajoharie edges Fort Plain

CANAJOHARIE - Michael Mazzarella scored in overtime to lead Canajoharie to a 2-1 win over Fort Plain in a Western Athletic Conference boys soccer game Monday.

Zach Bowerman scored on a penalty kick in regulation for Canajoharie (5-8 overall, 4-7 WAC).

Marcus Failing scored the lone goal for Fort Plain on an assist from Joe Ray.

Chris Deyette made six saves for Canajoharie.

Chris Hanifin made nine saves for Fort Plain (8-4-2 overall, 7-3-2 WAC).

Galway 3, Mayfield 2 (OT)

GALWAY - Zach Hartman scored with five minutes remaining in the second 10-minute sudden-death overtime session to lead Galway to a Western Athletic Conference win over Mayfield.

The loss snapped the Panthers' 10-game win streak.

Hartman and Tyler Goergen scored in regulation for the Golden Eagles (12-1 overall, 10-1 WAC), while Casey Mello had an assist.

Dylan Toscano scored both goals for Mayfield (10-4 overall, 8-4 WAC), while Jordan Ryder had an assist.

Evan Ceroalo made 11 saves for Galway, while Ryan Hennessy made 12 stops for Mayfield.

St. Johnsville 6, Sharon Springs 3

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Devon Battisti scored four goals to lead St. Johnsville to a win over Sharon Springs.

Brandon Campione and Dakota Mereness also scored for the Saints (8-6 overall, 6-6 WAC).

Nick Roach scored two goals for Sharon Springs (0-12 WAC), while Tanner Brown also scored.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo 3, Duanesburg 1

BERNE - Nick Nagengast, Maclin Norray and Sam Abbott scored to lead Berne-Knox-Westerlo to a win over Duanesburg.

Trevor Haack made nine saves for Berne-Knox-Westerlo (5-6 WAC).

Zach Wissenbach made 10 saves for Duanesburg (1-10-1 WAC).

Middleburgh 3, Schoharie 1

MIDDLEBURGH - Sean Green scored three goals to lead Middleburgh to a win over Schoharie.

Jake Thorington added an assist for the Knights (4-6-2 WAC).

Will Vedder scored for Schoharie (5-5-1 WAC).

Nick Righi made five saves for Middleburgh, while Derric Jankowski and Justin Montione combined to make seven stops for Schoharie.

Colonial Council

Cobleskill-Richmondville 4, Fonda-Fultonville 0

FONDA - Zach Haskin scored twice to lead Cobleskill-Richmondville to a shutout win over Fonda-Fultonville.

Nick Bird and Brandon VanWormer also scored for the Bulldogs (2-8-1 Colonial).

Ryan Bronsen made 17 saves to post the shutout win in goal for Cobleskill-Richmondville.

Tyler Folmsbee made eight saves for Fonda-Fultonville (2-11-1 overall, 2-9-1 Colonial), which outshot the Bulldogs 25-12.
