Mary ‘Stacia’ Foss

Mary "Stacia" Foss, 65, of State Highway 29, Broadalbin, died Friday morning, October12, 2012, at home following a short illness.

She was born in Amsterdam on December 12, 1946, a daughter of Stanley and Betty McFarlan Malacynski and attended school in Broadalbin. Stacia was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Foss was employed at the former Collette's Nursing Home in Broadalbin. Later she worked at the former Coleco Industries in Amsterdam and Mayfield. Stacia later was employed at the former Mohawk Furniture in Broadalbin, retiring in 2004.

She was of the Catholic faith.

Stacia enjoyed working on her farm, raising heifers and calves and also attending auctions with her husband. A favorite hobby of hers was collecting clocks. Most of all, she loved spending time with family and friends.

She was predeceased by her brother, Peter Malacynski, who died in 1953.

Survivors include her husband, Leon H. Foss, whom she married on July 21, 1962; two sons, Leon H. Foss, Jr. (Ceil) of Broadalbin and David B. Foss (Shelly) of Gloversville; two sisters, Teresa Lockwood (Ray) of Mayfield and Julie Ann Tabor (Rex) of Herkimer; step-brothers and -sisters, Judy(Sonny) and Richard (Maggie) of South Carolina, and David, Kenneth, Michelle, and Cathy of Herkimer; four grandchildren, Brittany, Amanda, Jon (Joann), and Ryan; a great-grandson, Cameron; two aunts; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation will be performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street) Johnstown.
