Boys Soccer Roundup: Mayfield extends win streak to nine games

MAYFIELD - Dylan Toscano continued his hot streak, which in turn, extended the hot streak of the Mayfield boys soccer team.

Toscano scored four times to lead the Panthers to a 5-0 win over Fort Plain in a Western Athletic Conference contest Friday.

The win was the ninth straight for Mayfield, which improved to 9-3 overall, after an 0-3 start to the season.

Toscano has 24 goals on the season and 21 of those goals have come during the Panthers' win streak.

Matt Chase also scored for the Panthers, while Josh Ivancic had three assists. Jordan Ryder added an assist for Mayfield (8-3 WAC).

Ryan Hennessy made five saves to post the fourth shutout of the season for the Panthers.

Chris Hanifin made four saves for Fort Plain (8-3-2 overall, 7-2-2 WAC).

Northville 6, Sharon Springs 2

SHARON SPRINGS - Tyler Henderson scored twice to lead Northville to a win over Sharon Springs.

Jimmy Grega, Brad VanNostrand and Skyler Buyce all had a goal and an assist for the Falcons, while Nick Jonas also scored.

Matt Scunziano and Brandon Blowers each had an assist for Northville (8-3-2 overall, 6-3-2 WAC), which outshot Sharon Springs 21-2.

Nick Roach and Vernon Kennedy scored for Sharon Springs (0-11 WAC).

Dylan Spencer didn't make a save but earned the win for the Falcons in goal.

Mekeel Christian 6, St. Johnsville 1

SCOTIA - Tai Aderounmu finished with three goals and an assist to lead Mekeel Christian Academy to a win over St. Johnsville.

Kenny Aderounmu registered two goals and two assists for the Lions, while Shawn King also scored.

TK Majekdounmi added two assists for Mekeel Christian (8-1 WAC).

Brandon Campione scored the lone goal for St. Johnsville (7-6 overall, 5-6 WAC).

Tyler Guido made two saves for the Lions, while Nate Trumble made 15 stops for the Saints.

Galway 5, Canajoharie 0

CANAJOHARIE - Five different players scored for Galway in a shutout win over Canajoharie.

Casey Mello had a goal and an assist for the Golden Eagles, while Taylor Hartman, Zach Hartman, Josh Bailey and Andrew Izzo also scored.

Jay Oakes and Ryan Pappalau each had an assist for Galway (10-1 overall, 9-1 WAC).

Canajoharie slipped to 4-8 overall and 3-7 in WAC play.

Foothills Council

Broadalbin-Perth 2, Scotia-Glenville 1

SCOTIA - After losing back-to-back games earlier this season to Scotia-Glenville, Broadalbin-Perth gained a measure of revenge with a one-goal win over the Tartans.

Mark Sylvia scored both goals for the Patriots, who are ranked 12th in the latest state Class B rankings.

Tucker Wilcox and Scott Everson each had an assist for B-P (11-2-1 overall, 9-1-1 Foothills), which trailed 1-0 at the half.

Dennis Turner scored the lone goal for Scotia-Glenville, which is ranked second in the latest state Class A poll. Owen Fingar assisted on the goal for the Tartans.

Pat Brown made five saves for Broadalbin-Perth.

Adam Ashcroft made five saves for Scotia-Glenville (12-1-1 overall, 8-1-1 Foothills).

South Glens Falls 5, Gloversville 0

SOUTH GLENS FALLS - Cody Kostrzebski scored twice to lead South Glens Falls to a shutout win over Gloversville.

Luke Vandixhorn and Rick Buser each had a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs, while Alec Potter also scored.

Travis Kirk added an assist for South Glens Falls (9-3-1 overall, 7-2-2 Foothills).

Josh Hay and Evan Brooks combined to make three saves to share the shutout win in goal for South Glens Falls.

Nick Cirillo made 10 stops for Gloversville (3-9 overall, 2-8 Foothills).

Glens Falls 2, Johnstown 1

GLENS FALLS - Clark Wooley and Heath Armstrong scored to lead Glens Falls to a win over Johnstown.

Fran Dogherty and Spencer Bray each had an assist for Glens Falls (3-10 overall, 2-8 Foothills).

Elijah Hill scored the lone goal for Johnstown (3-10 overall, 1-9 Foothills), which was outshot 21-10.

Gabe Alagna made six saves for the Indians, while Andy Camarra made 10 stops for the Sir Bills.
