GLOVERSVILLE - Mayor Dayton King recently announced the city will recognize the month of October as Bully Awareness Month.
King said he has been working closely with the Gloversville Middle School the last few years, and gave the framed proclamation recognizing Bully Awareness Month to the school during the Common Council meeting Sept. 25.
The idea was something King said he took upon himself to partner with the Gloversville Enlarged School District and announce within the city.
If the city and school district work together and present a clear message of disapproval, King said, the threat of bullying will be reduced.
"As a leader in this community, I wanted to stand up to note that we are teaming up with the school district and bullying certainly won't be tolerated here," King said.
