Nellises celebrate 50th anniversary

GLOVERSVILLE - Richard and Dorothy Nellis of Gloversville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 2.

The event was hosted by their children. Approximately 75 guests attended from the local area and from others parts of New York as well as Ohio, Connecticut, Vermont and Maryland.

The couple married June 2, 1962, at the First Presbyterian Church in Gloversville. The former Dorothy Richtmyer is a native of Gloversville and a 1961 graduate of Gloversville High School.

Richard Nellis is a native of Johnstown and a 1957 graduate of Johnstown High School.

Richard and Dorothy spent more than 20 years in the Air Force, moving and traveling about the United States and overseas while raising their children. They lived in New York state, Washington, Colorado, Ohio, Massachusetts, California, Texas, Greece and Germany. They did a lot of traveling and sightseeing.

After retiring from the Air Force, they decided to return to the Gloversville area. They have four children, Dorri and her husband Glenn DiPasquale, Kelly Nellis, Theresa and her husband Jason Matson, all of Gloversville, and Kevin Nellis of New York City. They also have eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
