GLOVERSVILLE - Officials at Nathan Littauer Hospital issued a statement Friday advising local people the hospital does not use the pain drug made by the manufacturer linked to the meningitis outbreak affecting people in other states.
"I want to assure our patients who received epidural steroid injections at Littauer that you did not receive the product that is being recalled," said Chief Pharmacist Robert Stankes, who monitors all medications for Littauer.
A spokesperson for St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam was not available to answer questions.
Littauer officials said anyone with questions about the situation should call their personal physicians.
Health officials say the tainted drug has sickened more than 60 people in nine states. Symptoms of meningitis include a headache, fever, stiff neck, difficulty walking and worsening back pain.
