Boys Soccer Roundup: Spartans blank Dragons, 4-0

GLOVERSVILLE - Four different players scored to lead Queensbury to a 4-0 win over Gloversville in a Foothills Council boys soccer game Friday.

Chris Goodemote scored on a penalty kick for the lone goal of the first half for the Spartans.

Kyle Chambers, Cole Crotty and Taylor Neil scored in the second half for Queensbury (4-8-1 overall, 4-5 Foothills), while Nick Hall added an assist.

Pat O'Mara made four saves to earn the shutout win in goal for the Spartans, who outshot Gloversville 17-12.

Nick Cirillo made six saves for Gloversville.

Gloversville slipped to 2-8 overall and 2-7 in Foothills Council play.

South Glens Falls 2, Glens Falls 1

SOUTH GLENS FALLS - Alec Potter had a goal and an assist to lead South Glens Falls to a win over Glens Falls.

Luke VanDixhorn also scored for the Bulldogs, while Kyle Ogden added an assist.

Sean Hooker scored the lone goal for Glens Falls on an assist from Clark Wooley.

Josh Hay made seven saves to earn the win in goal for South Glens Falls (8-3-1 overall, 6-2-1 Foothills).

Gabe Alagna made eight saves for Glens Falls (2-9 overall, 1-7 Foothills).

The Bulldogs wore pink uniforms to raise awareness and money for the American Cancer Society.


Fort Plain 6, Duanesburg 0

FORT PLAIN - Will Logan and Marcus Failing each scored two goals to lead Fort Plain to a shutout win over Duanesburg.

Joe Ray scored on a penalty kick for the Hilltoppers and added two assists.

Trenton Douglas scored once for Fort Plain (8-2-2 overall, 7-1-2 WAC), while Derrell Diffin added two assists. Evan Grassel finished with one assist for the Hilltoppers.

Chris Hanifin made five saves to post the shutout win in goal for Fort Plain.

Zach Wissenbach made 15 saves for Duanesburg (1-8-1 WAC).

Schoharie 2, St. Johnsville 1

ST. JOHNSVILLE - An own goal by St. Johnsville proved to be the difference as Schoharie posted a win over the Saints.

William Vedder scored for the Indians on an assist from James Sacket in the first half before the own goal by the Saints gave Schoharie a 2-0 halftime lead.

Kyle Smith scored the lone goal for St. Johnsville in the second half.

Schoharie improved to 5-6-1 overall and 5-4-1 in WAC play, while the Saints slipped to 7-5 overall and 5-5 in WAC play.


Northville 5, Fonda-Fultonville 0

NORTHVILLE - Jimmy Grega and Brad VanNostrand each scored two goals to lead Northville to a shutout win over Fonda-Fultonville.

Tyler Henderson added a goal and an assist for the Falcons, who are 7-1-1 in their last nine contests.

VanNostrand and Barcley Hayward each had an assist for Northville (7-3-1 overall), which outshot Fonda-Fultonville 18-2.

Tim Monette made two saves to earn the shutout win in goal for the Falcons. It was the seventh shutout of the season for Northville.

Tyler Folmsbee made nine saves for Fonda-Fultonville (2-9 overall).

Mekeel Christian 1, CBA 1

SCOTIA - Kenny Aderounmu scored the lone goal for Mekeel Christian Academy in a tie with Christian Brothers Academy.

Tai Aderoumnu assisted on the goal for the Lions.

Brandon Bolger scored the lone goal for CBA on an assist from Nick O'Brien.

Rhain Zeronda made 15 saves for Mekeel Christian (8-1-1 overall), while Sean Connelly made five stops for CBA (5-4-2 overall).
