Girls Swimming Roundup: New Hartford beats Sea Dragons in non-league girls swim meet

October 5, 2012
The Leader Herald

GLOVERSVILLE - Just hours after attending the funeral of former team captain Alex Kogut who was killed at the State University of New York at Brockport, New Hartford came to Gloversville and went home with a 101.5-78.5 win over the Gloversville-Mayfield girls' swimming team.

Both teams held a moment of silence for Kogut after the meet.

"This was the most emotional meet we have ever been a part of," Gloversville Mayfield coach Mike Harrington said. "We were not swimming for times or point tonight; we swam for a young lady who was taken from all of us much too soon. It took an amazing amount of strength for that team to be able to attend the funeral service for their captain and then board a bus to come swim us."
