Male drivers more courteous on the road

October 2, 2012
The Leader Herald

I would like to thank the male drivers along Route 148 for their courtesy in easing out of their lanes while approaching pedestrians like me. This busy side road has no paved skirts, so one can be forced to go down into the gully for fear of accidently being run down. These male drivers also swerve while passing bicyclists.

As for female drivers, they generally stay in the prescribed lane even though there is no other traffic. I interpret this as training in faithfully following recipes.

Cars are huge and impregnable compared to human beings and can kill without a dent.

Then again, the men may only be avoiding getting points on their licenses and increased insurance costs by their care. But I would like to think they're just acting like gentlemen.
