Charles and Iona (Duross) Farrar of Johnstown celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Thursday.

The couple married Sept. 27, 1942, in a small family ceremony at the Johnstown Baptist Parsonage, two weeks before Chuck left for the Army.

Mr. Farrar worked as a truck/snowplow driver for both the county and New York State Department of Transportation.
