NORTHVILLE - The Northville Central School District announced Saturday that Brian Bishop of Middle Grove will take over as the secondary school principal beginning Monday.
He will replace Michael Healey, who left in August for a similar position in the Galway School District.
Bishop will earn a $83,750 salary for the 2012-13 school year.
Bishop was chosen from a pool of 30 candidates and met with several school officials before being appointed Saturday.
"The Search Committee, which included staff, students, administrators, community representatives and [Board of Education] members, performed a diligent search for the very best candidate," Superintendent Kathy Dougherty said in a release. "We are confident that Brian brings a comprehensive skill set to the position and that he will be an excellent fit for the school and community."
Bishop had previously served as the interim middle school-high school coordinator for student services at the Guilderland School District, assistant principal and director of athletics at the Galway Central School District and, most recently, as the interim high school assistant principal at the Averill Park Central School District.
A reception to welcome Bishop will take place at 2:40 p.m. Monday in the school library. Students, staff and community members are invited.
He will be formally appointed at the Oct. 9 Board of Education meeting.
