The Gloversville Corps of the Salvation Army would like to thank the community for its support of Tools For School through Price Chopper and books donated to Applebee's Book Drive. We also would like to thank Frontier Communications, Key Bank and Walmart for helping to provide school supplies.
Thanks to these efforts, 105 backpacks were distributed this year at School Shop - where kids and parents were allowed to select a backpack and choose their favorite colors among donated supplies: folders, notebooks, etc. In an effort to build the relationship between donors and recipients, those receiving assistance were informed what donor groups had helped to make the School Shop possible and took time to share their stories as to how this effort has helped their children.
The Salvation Army of Gloversville also would like to share the decision has been made to transition to partnering with Workforce Solutions to run the soup kitchen on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. We would like to thank all those who have given generously of their time and talent through the years serving in the Salvation Army soup kitchen. Groups have included the following: Foothills United Methodist Church, Frontier Communications, Gloversville Free Methodist, Knesseth Israel Synagogue, National Grid, North Main Street United Methodist Church and the Soroptimists.
We look forward to continuing to involve these groups in opportunities to volunteer throughout the year and other community groups as well. Community support is essential to the work of the Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army's mission is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in his name without discrimination. Heart to God, hand to man. Sharing is caring.
