H.S. Volleyball Roundup: Johnstown sweeps Scotia-Glenville

JOHNSTOWN - Annie Stock finished with 12 kills, 12 service points, five digs and two aces to lead Johnstown to a 3-0 sweep of Scotia-Glenville in a Foothills Council volleyball match Wednesday.

The Lady Bills won by scores of 25-21, 25-13 and 25-6.

Elizabeth Hayward posted 21 digs for Johnstown (7-1 overall, 6-1 Foothills), while Zara Hyde finished with 19 assists and four kills. Bri O'Rourke added 17 points, two kills and a block for the Lady Bills.

Bianca Bustamante finished with 10 digs and two blocks to lead Scotia-Glenville, while Katherine Aker added six points, four assists and two digs.

Queensbury 3, Hudson Falls 0

HUDSON FALLS - Savannah Brayton finished with six kills and six aces to lead Queensbury to a sweep of Hudson Falls in a Foothills Council contest.

The Spartans won by scores of 25-12, 25-17 and 25-2.

The win was the 100th career victory for Queensbury coach Tyler Carey.

Jenna Bureau posted 10 kills for Queensbury (7-0 overall, 7-0 Foothills), while Brooke Meader added 22 assists and three kills.

Hudson Falls slipped to 2-5 in Foothills play with the loss.

South Glens Falls 3, Glens Falls 0

GLENS FALLS - Jessica Trudeau finished with 19 service points and four kills to lead South Glens Falls to a sweep of Glens Falls in a Foothills Council contest.

The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-14, 25-13 and 25-16.

Kassy McDonald registered 13 points and 11 assists for South Glens Falls (6-3 overall, 4-3 Foothills), while Rachel Lumley posted nine kills.

Erin Ryan finished with nine digs for Glens Falls (0-7, 0-9).


Saratoga Catholic 3, Canajoharie 0

CANAJOHARIE - Meghan Mensler finished with 10 service points, seven digs and four aces to lead Saratoga Central Catholic to a sweep of Canajoharie.

The Lady Saints won by scores of 25-15, 25-13 and 25-23.

Meghan McDonough posted nine assists and five points for Saratoga Catholic, while Sierra Matthews added 11 digs and two aces.

Emma Stortecky posted 11 assists, four digs, four points and a block for Canajoharie (3-3 overall, 3-3 WAC), while Shyanna Logan added eight digs and six kills.

Jodi Streath finished with three kills and three digs for the Lady Cougars, while Shelby Mead added four kills and a block.

Duanesburg 3, Fort Plain 2

DUANESBURG - Breanna Aanensen finished with 17 services points, eight aces, seven kills and seven assists to lead Duanesburg to a win over Fort Plain.

The Eagles won by scores of 25-16, 26-24, 23-25, 23-25 and 25-16.

Rebecca Gallup posted 10 kills and four blocks for Duanesburg, while Rachel Gamache had seven kills.

Nicole Bouchard had 11 points for Fort Plain (0-6 overall, 0-6 WAC).

Schoharie 3, Galway 1

SCHOHARIE - Allie Blythe finished with 10 kills and six blocks to lead Schoharie to a win over Galway.

The Indians lost the first game 25-9 before rallying to win the final three games by scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-17.

The loss was the first of the season for Galway (7-1 overall, 5-1 WAC), which had won 31 straight WAC regular-season contests.

Sierra Diamond added 15 service points for Schoharie (5-1, 5-1).

Emily Zawisa and Adrianna Watrobski each had six kills for Galway, while Rachel Jones had five kills and three blocks. Emily Orminski finished with eight points and 10 assists for the Golden Eagles.
