Police: Shots fired in Amsterdam

September 25, 2012
The Leader Herald

AMSTERDAM - Police this morning were investigating a report of two people firing four shots at an unoccupied vehicle in the Rosito's Place Bakery parking lot on James Street around 5:30 a.m.

City police Lt. Rob Richardson said the shots apparently were fired from across the street from the parking lot.

"We don't believe the owner of the vehicle was being targeted," Richardson said. "We believe someone was looking to shoot something and they saw the vehicle."

A neighbor reported two people fled on foot after the shooting, Richardson said.

Police this morning were reviewing videotape from local businesses. Richardson said anyone who has information about the incident should call city police at 842-1100.
