BROADALBIN - Fire officials are trying to determine what caused a fire that damaged part of the former Mohawk Mills complex Thursday morning.
Firefighters put out the fire on the second floor of a storage building in 20 minutes. That floor received mostly water damage, Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Chief Scot Hall said.
Five departments responded to the fire at the complex, which is abandoned, Hall said. The fire began around 5 a.m.
Officials were still investigating today.
Linda Eastman, owner of the Broadalbin Christian Bookstore and Linda's Antiques, called in the fire. Firefighters from the Broadalbin-Kennyetto, Galway, Hagaman, Mayfield and Perth volunteer fire departments responded. The Fort Johnson and Providence fire departments were on standby.
