H.S. Volleyball Roundup: Gloversville records win

GLOVERSVILLE - Jenna Putnam posted 15 service points, seven assists, four aces and a blocks to lead Gloversville to a 3-0 sweep of Hudson Falls in a Foothills Council volleyball match Wednesday.

The Huskies won by scores of 25-11, 25-13 and 25-22.

Chelsey Biasini finished with four kills and four digs for Gloversville (3-2 overall, 3-2 Foothills), while Alex Bielli posted five digs and three kills. Megan McCall added four blocks for the Huskies and Ana Kroup posted three kills, three digs and a block.

Gloversville returns to action Friday at Johnstown.

Johnstown 3, South Glens Falls 1

JOHNSTOWN - Annie Stock registered 17 digs and 12 kills to power Johnstown to a Foothills Council win over South Glens Falls.

The Lady Bills won by scores of 25-21, 25-12, 18-25, 25- 19.

Zara Hyde finished with 27 assists, nine digs and two blocks for Johnstown (5-1 overall, 4-1 Foothills), while Liz Hayward posted 19 digs and two aces.

Kaitlyn Duesler posted nine kills for the Lady Bills and Alyssa Nellis added nine digs, four blocks and four kills.

Rachel Lumley led South Glens Falls with 24 digs, 11 kills and six blocks, while Shannon Higgins posted 19 digs, 13 kills and three blocks. Jessica Miller added 19 digs for the Bulldogs.

Queensbury 3, Broadalbin-Perth 1

BROADALBIN - Jenna Bureau finished with 10 kills to power Queensbury to a Foothills Council win over Broadalbin-Perth.

The Spartans won by scores of 25-18, 25-19, 18-25 and 25-12.

Brooke Meader had 21 assists and eight aces for Queensbury (5-0 overall, 5-0 Foothills), while Sarah McMahon added six kills.

Maddie Gurga had six digs, five aces, four kills and two assists for Broadalbin-Perth (3-2 overall, 3-2 Foothills), while Keyana Fariello posted four aces. Regan Reed added three kills for the Lady Patriots.


Mayfield 3, Fonda-Fultonville 0

MAYFIELD - Miranda Eagan had 10 service points, nine assists, five kills and two blocks to lead Mayfield to a sweep of Fonda-Fultonville in a non-league contest.

The Lady Panthers won by scores of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-20.

Bailey Ward had 10 points and three kills for Mayfield (4-1 overall), while Karissa Morey posted eight points, five assists and four kills. Nicole Little finished with seven points, six kills and a block for the Lady Panthers, Kaylee Bumpus posted 10 points and four kills and Kiera Davis had six points.

Taylor Wetsky had 13 kills and three blocks to lead Fonda-Fultonville (4-4 overall), while Miranda Nethaway posted eight kills.


Duanesburg 3, Mekeel Christian 1

DUANESBURG - Teanna Schmaeh had 13 service points and eight aces to lead Duanesburg to a win over Mekeel Christian Academy.

The Eagles won by scores of 25-17, 24-26, 26-24 and 25-17.

Katy Dunn registered five kills for Duanesburg.

Janie Frank had five kills for Mekeel Christian, while Lia Carter finished with four kills.

On Tuesday, Duanesburg lost 3-1 to Schoharie by scores of 26-24, 25-19, 22-25 and 25-18.

Jessica Cornwell had 22 points for Schoharie, while Allie Blyth posted nine kills.

Rachel Gamache finished with 11 points, five aces and four kills for Duanesburg.
