H.S. Volleyball Roundup: Galway sweeps Fort Plain

FORT PLAIN - Emily Zawisa had 11 assists and nine kills to lead Galway to a 3-0 win over Fort Plain in a Western Athletic Conference contest Tuesday.

Galway won by scores of 25-6, 25-11 and 25-10.

Emily Orminski posted 14 service points, 11 assists and five aces for Galway (5-0 overall, 3-0 WAC), while Hayley Martin finished with seven kills and seven points. Rachel Jones added three kills, three points and two aces for the Golden Eagles.

Emily Potter had two digs for Fort Plain (0-4 overall, 0-4 WAC), while Shauna Cotton finished with four assists. Nicole Bouchard had three kills for the Lady Hilltoppers.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo 3, Mekeel Christian 0

SCOTIA - Freshman Kathryn Salo tied a school record with 12 aces to lead Berne-Knox-Westerlo to a sweep of Mekeel Christian Academy in a Western Athletic Conference match.

The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-15, 25-18 and 25-15.

Gabrielle Audino posted 15 assists and two blocks for BKW, while Erin McIntyre finished with eight digs and four kills. Danielle Hubbard added seven kills for the Bulldogs (3-1 overall, 2-1 WAC).

Janie Frank had 15 service points and four kills for Mekeel Christian (1-3 overall, 1-3 WAC).

Colonial Council

Fonda-Fultonville 3, Ichabod Crane 1

FONDA - Taylor Wetsky had 17 service points, five aces, five kills and five blocks to lift Fonda-Fultonville to a win over Ichabod Crane.

The Lady Braves won by scores of 25-14, 25-17, 18-25 and 25-19.

Sierra Park finished with 22 service points, nine aces and six assists for FFCS (4-3 overall, 3-3 Colonial), while Kerri McCaslin posted 11 points, five assists and two aces.

Quinn Hennessey and Katie Barber each finished with eight kills and three aces for Ichabod Crane.

Big 10

Bishop Gibbons 3, Amsterdam 1

AMSTERDAM - Emily Brown had 24 assists and 15 service points to lead Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons to a win over Amsterdam.

After losing the first game 25-17, Bishop Gibbons bounced back to win the final three games by scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 25-15.

Caroline Bouchard finished with 22 digs and two kills for the Golden Knights (3-1 Big 10), while Cassandra Nosal posted 11 kills and four blocks.

Bayley Archinal had 11 kills, three assists, three blocks and an ace for Amsterdam (1-6 overall, 1-3 Big 10), while Katie Ressel had 11 assists and four kills. Jordann Bernardo finished with four kills and a block for the Lady Rams.
