ONEONTA - State University of New York Athletic Conference Commissioner, Azure Davey, recently announced that SUNY Oneonta senior Brittany Calvello, a Broadalbin-Perth graduate, has been selected as the conference Player of the Week in volleyball.

Calvello had a solid all-around week in helping to lead Oneonta to a 5-0 record last week. Calvello was named the Union College Invitational all-tournament team last weekend as the Red Dragons went 4-0.

Calvello's highlight for the weekend was recording a triple-double - 13 kills, 27 assists and 15 digs - in a 3-2 win against Skidmore on Sept. 14.

Calvello also had seven kills, 17 assists and 13 digs to help lead Oneonta to a victory over previously undefeated Scranton on Sept. 11 on the road. The Royals entered the match 9-0.

This season, Calvello leads the team with 221 assists and is second on the team with 92 kills and 101 digs. She also has 26 blocks and 12 service aces.

The triple-double versus Skidmore was the third time this season she has accomplished this feat.

The Red Dragons are currently 11-2 overall and in the midst of an eight-match winning streak, which is its longest winning streak since 2002.

Oneonta will travel to SUNY Cortland for SUNYAC pool play Friday and Saturday.
