William A. Obenhoff

Mr. William A. Obenhoff, 73, of Bleecker, passed away unexpectedly on September 12, 2012, at his residence. He was born December 14, 1938, in Gloversville, son of the late William H. and Molly Smrtic Obenhoff. Mr. Obenhoff was a 1957 graduate of Johnstown High School, recently celebrating their 55th year class reunion. William also attended Mohawk Valley Community College and graduated from Russell Sage College with a Bachelor of Science degree. Bill was a leather broker, buying and selling leather around the country, retiring from NYPAC Leather, a company he co-founded.

An avid outdoorsman, Bill was a member of the Pine Tree Rifle Club, NRA and the 1/12 Organization, a hunting club in Speculator. He also was an active member of the Bleecker United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge-St. Patrick's Lodge No. 4 F & AM and served as secretary of the Fulton County Sheriff's Association. Bill served in the Air Force from 1957 to 1961.

Survivors include his wife, Tess Crippen Obenhoff of Bleecker, whom he married December 15, 1962; a son, Ryan Obenhoff (Jennifer) of Marietta, Georgia; and grandchildren, Klaus Obenhoff, Hans Obenhoff, Connor Obenhoff of Delmar, N.Y., Zachary Obenhoff and Hannah Obenhoff of Marietta, Georgia. He is also survived by a sister, Janet Lange (Roger) of Utica, N.Y.; a brother, Thomas H. Obenhoff (Karen) of Orange Conn.; and a daughter-in-law, Debra Obenhoff of Wilton, N.Y. Bill was predeceased by two sons, Todd Obenhoff in 2009 and Yale Obenhoff in 2004.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, September 15, at Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the service. Cremation will take place at Parkview Crematorium, Schenectady.
