Boys Soccer Roundup: Fort Plain blanks BKW

BERNE - Marcus Failing had two goals and an assist to lead Fort Plain to a 3-0 win over Berne-Knox-Westerlo in a Western Athletic Conference boys soccer contest Wednesday.

Jacob Sardina also scored for the Hilltoppers, who improved 5-1 overall and 4-0 in WAC play with the victory.

Chris Hanifin made nine saves to earn the shutout win in goal for Fort Plain.

Trevor Haack and Joe Sprung combined to make 15 saves for Berne-Knox-Westerlo (2-2 overall, 2-2 WAC).

St. Johnsville/Oppenheim-Ephratah 4, Middleburgh 3

MIDDLEBURGH - Kyle Smith scored twice to lead St. Johnsville/Oppenheim-Ephratah to a WAC win over Middleburgh.

Brandon Campione and Devan Battisti also scored for St. Johnsville/Oppenheim-Ephratah (4-1 overall, 3-1 WAC), while Tristan Engle and Johnny Vicciarelli each had an assist.

Brody Smith scored twice for Middleburgh (1-3 WAC), while Austin Roney also scored.

Rickey Jasewicz made 13 saves for St. Johnsville/Oppenheim-Ephratah.

Mekeel Christian 4, Northville 2

SCOTIA - Tai Aderounmu scored twice to lead Mekeel Christian Academy to a WAC North Division win over Northville.

T.K. Majekodunmi and Tom Chucta also scored for the Lions, while Kenny Aderounmu had two assists.

Jimmy Grega and Brad VanNostrand scored for Northville (0-2 overall, 0-2 WAC), while Kalob Russell and Brian Ginter each added an assist.

Rhain Zeronida made six saves for Mekeel Christian (2-0 overall, 2-0 WAC).

Tim Monette and Dylan Spencer each made four saves for the Falcons.

Schoharie 1, Canajoharie 0

CANAJOHARIE - Robert Henry scored the game's lone goal to lift Schoharie to a WAC win over Canajoharie.

Justin Montione made nine saves for the Indians (3-0-1 WAC).

Chris Deyette made five saves for Canajoharie (1-3 overall, 1-3 WAC), which outshot Schoharie by 13-6 margin.

Duanesburg 1, Sharon Springs 0

DUANESBURG - Mitchell Hubert scored the game's lone goal with 30 seconds remaining to lift Duanesburg to a WAC win over Sharon Springs.

Duanesburg improved to 1-2-1 in WAC play with the victory, while Sharon Springs slipped to 0-4.

Northern Soccer League

Wells 1, Johnsburg 0

WELLS - Matt Michienzi scored the game's lone goal to lead Wells to a win over Johnsburg.

Kenny Chicoski assisted on the goal for the Indians, who improved to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in Northern Soccer League play.

Ben Brenan made six saves to earn the shutout win for Wells.

Chet Prouty had 12 saves for Johnsburg.
