Girls Soccer Roundup: Mayfield earns first win

MAYFIELD - Kelsey Burton and Abby MacFarland scored to lead Mayfield to a 2-0 win over Mekeel Christian Academy in a Western Athletic Conference North Division girls soccer game Wednesday

Anna Husain and Hanna Cromie each had an assist for the Lady Panthers (1-3 overall, 1-2 WAC).

Jennifer Little made seven saves to post the shutout win in goal for Mayfield. Emily Taplin made seven saves for Mekeel Christian (0-2-1 WAC).

Berne-Knox-Westerlo 2, Fort Plain 0

FORT PLAIN Makayla McCormick scored twice to lead Berne-Knox-Westerlo to a win over Fort Plain.

The Bulldogs improved to 4-0 overall and 4-0 in WAC play with the victory.

Fort Plain slipped to 2-2 overall and 2-2 in WAC play.

Galway 2, Northville 1 (2 OT)

NORTHVILLE - Erica Chase scored both goals to lift Galway to a WAC North Division win over Northville.

Chase's second goal of the game came in the second overtime period on an assist from Kelly Phillips, who assisted on both goals.

Kelly VanNostrand scored the lone goal for Northville (1-1-1 overall, 1-1-1 WAC), while Mary Ryan had an assist.

Rebekah Reichard made eight saves for Galway (4-0 overall, 3-0 WAC). Joanna Schulte made five saves for Northville.

Canajoharie 4, Schoharie 3

SCHOHARIE - Jenelle Dillenbeck scored all four goals to lead Canajoharie to a win over Schoharie.

Brianna Slater had two assists for the Cougars (4-0 overall, 4-0 WAC), while Melissa Bowley and Dainara Veeder each had one assist.

Sena Cleveland scored twice for Schoharie (2-2 overall, 1-2 WAC), while Kaitlyn Kendle had a goal and an assist.

Lauren Archer and Jillian Scofield each had an assist for the Lady Indians.

Lauren Balfe made nine saves for Canajoharie, while Lindsey Vanier made 11 saves for Schoharie.

Middleburgh 5, St. Johnsville/Oppenheim-Ephratah 4

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Five different players scored for Middleburgh in a WAC win over St. Johnsville/Oppenheim-Ephratah.

Taylor Cater had a goal and two assists for the Knights (2-2 overall, 1-1 WAC), while Amanda Roney added a goal and an assist.

Kayla Francis, Kiera Morgan and Calley Lawyer also scored for Middleburgh.

Jessi Hagadorn had a hat trick for St. Johnsville/Oppenheim-Ephratah (1-3 overall, 1-3 WAC), while Kelsey Lovett also scored. Meghan Clarke had two assists for St. Johnsville/Oppenheim-Ephratah, while Hannah Taylor and Rylie Smith each had an assist.

Leann Knapp had eight saves for St. Johnsville/Oppenheim-Ephratah.

Megan Hagadorn made six saves for Middleburgh.

Duanesburg 3, Sharon Springs 0

DUANESBURG - Kayla Smalls had a goal and an assist to lead Duanesburg to a win over Sharon Springs.

Andrea Barton and Maeve McKeeby also scored for the Eagles (1-3 overall, 1-2 WAC), while Hannah McGuire had two assists.

Amanda Goodwin and Nicole Cassale combined to make nine saves to share the shutout win in goal for Duanesburg.

Kara VanArsdale made eight saves for Sharon Springs (0-5 overall, 0-4 WAC)

Big 10

Albany 3, Amsterdam 1

AMSTERDAM - Hannah Moran had two goals and an assist to lead Albany to a win over Amsterdam.

Adrianna Guidetti also scored for the Falcons (3-2 overall, 1-0 Big 10), while Jasmine Higgins added an assist.

Madison Healy scored the lone goal for Amsterdam (0-4 overall, 0-1 Big 10).

Emily Andrews made three saves for Albany, while Cassandra Robataille made five stops for Amsterdam.

Foothills Council

Queensbury 3, Glens Falls 1

QUEENSBURY - Brittany LaPlant had two goals and an assist to lead Queensbury to a win over Glens Falls on Tuesday.

Cat Hand and Rebecca Adams also scored for the Lady Spartans.

Glens Falls got its lone goal on an own goal by Queensbury.

Sarah O'Brien made three saves for Queensbury, while Demi Vanderhayden and Hayley Flower combined to make seven stops for Glens Falls.
