People threatened with gun, police say
CANAJOHARIE-A Palatine Bridge man was arrested Sept. 1 after village police said he was seen driving drunk, waving a shotgun and threatening people.
Abraham J. Hawver, 31, was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content of 0.18 percent or greater, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle and second-degree menacing.
Police said officers recieved a complaint from Tony's Pizzeria about a man being drunk and hostile to employees. Police said when officers went to take a statement from the employees, they recieved reports from citizens saying Hawver was waving a shotgun around and threatening people with it.
Hawver drove away soon afterward, police said. Officers pulled him over across the bridge, police said. The shotgun also was found, police said.
Hawver was released and issued tickets to appear in the Town Court on Sept. 24.
