Lorraine F. "Bummy Rhodes" Wilson, 75, formerly of Houseman Street, Mayfield, N.Y., passed peacefully on September 2, 2012, at Brookwood Gardens Nursing Home in Homestead, Fla., after a long illness.
Bummy was born on November 2, 1936, in Northville, N.Y. She was the daughter of the former Howard H. Rhodes and Bertha "Bert" Davis. She graduated from Northville Central High School and Oneonta State College.
She began her working career employed by General Electric in Schenectady, N.Y. She later was employed at H&R Block and Beneficial Household Finance in Johnstown, N.Y., from which she retired. She also was self-employed for 30 plus years as a tax preparer in Mayfield, N.Y.
She was a Rosarian at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Northville, N.Y.
In her early years she was an excellent bowler and played on many leagues. She also loved to play golf and was on the Ladies League at the Sacandaga Golf Course. She was active with the Red Hat Ladies and T.O.P.S. in Northville, N.Y. You could often find her having breakfast with her Coffee Clutch friends. Furthermore, she was active at the senior centers in Titusville and Homestead Fla.
She was married to and survived by Marlin L. Wilson Sr., also of Homestead, Fla.
She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and often a mentor to many.
She is survived by: one brother, Bruce R. Rhodes of Schenectady, N.Y.; one son, Michael H.(Patricia) Rhodes of Homestead, Fla.; one stepson, Marlin L.(Dominque) Wilson Jr. of Homestead, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Robin L. (Robert) Loske of Fort Plain, N.Y., and Dawn M. Moore of Northville, N.Y.; brother and sisters-in-law, Beryl "Gaysie" Rhodes of Titusville, Fla., Cheryl Clemons of Orange City, Fla., Charlotte Wilson of Mayfield, N.Y., and Willard (Donna) Wilson of Mayfield, N.Y.; along with 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her two brothers, Roger H. "Bucky" Rhodes and Lyndon P. Rhodes.
