Reva Goodrich Dufel, 84, formerly of West Dufel Road, Amsterdam, passed away Sunday morning at the Brookside Hospice House in Palm Harbor, Florida.
Born in Walton, N.Y., on June 14, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mildred Schloss Goodrich and lived in this area since 1944 having moved to Trinity, Florida in 2002. She graduated from the Fultonville High School, class of 1946, and was employed as a nursing assistant for twenty-four years by St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam from which she retired in 1990. Throughout her life she assisted her husband on their farm which became Dufel's Scho-Mo Farm and stand on Route 5S. Reva had been a member of the former Johnstown United Methodist Church.
On October 16, 1948, she was united in marriage to Walter E. Dufel, who predeceased her in August of 2000. She also lost a granddaughter, Lisa Catandella.
She leaves her sons, W. Edward Dufel Jr. of Canajoharie, N.Y., and John A. (Linda) Dufel of Tribes Hill, N.Y.; and daughters, Donna (Carl) Catandella of Center Moriches, N.Y., and Linda (Howard) Harris of Palm Harbor, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, David Goodrich of Peru, N.Y.
A graveside service will take place on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville. The Rev. Ed Hackett Jr. will officiate. There are no prior calling hours at Reva's request.
