Gloversville Common Council meeting tonight

GLOVERSVILLE - The Common Council will hold a meeting today at 6 p.m. at City Hall and learn more about the Meals on Wheels program.

Andrea Fettinger, the director of the Fulton County Office for Aging, will talk about Meals on Wheels. The program recently received $3,000 from the city of Gloversville to help seniors in the area.

"It is a good thing to see and hear that the city can help a program like Meals on Wheels because it [the city] hasn't had the funds to help in some time," Mayor Dayton King said.

The Common Council also will recognize the service of recently retired police officer Tracy Green and have a formal introduction for new police officer Michael Shang.

Other Common Council proceeding's will include:

A resolution to authorize an equipment exchange between the city Department of Public Works and the Fulton County Department of Solid Waste.

A resolution to hold a public hearing Sept. 25 to discuss the proposed amendment of the City Code pertaining to penalties for property maintenance offenses.

A resolution to reduce the transit bus fares for people younger than 18.
