Boys Soccer Roundup: Galway edges Northville

NORTHVILLE - Josh Bailey scored from 35 yards out with 6:45 left in the second overtime to lead Galway to a 2-1 over Northville on Monday in Western Athletic Conference North Division boys soccer contest.

Bailey also scored on a direct kick in the second half to tie the game for Galway (2-0 overall, 2-0 WAC).

Jimmy Grega scored in the first half for Northville (0-1 overall, 0-1 WAC), which outshot Galway 12-11.

Evan Ceroalo made four saves for the Golden Eagles, while Tim Monette made eight stops for the Falcons.

Fort Plain 4, St. Johnsville/Oppenheim-Ephratah 2

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Marcus Failing scored twice to lead Fort Plain to a win over St. Johnsville/Oppenheim-Ephratah in a Western Athletic Conference Central Division boys soccer contest.

Aiden Van Loan and Jacob Sardina also scored for Fort Plain (4-1 overall, 3-0 WAC), while Evan Grassel, Trenton Douglas and Kiernan Briggs provided assists.

Kyle Smith and Johnny Vicciarelli scored for St. Johnsville/Oppenheim-Ephratah (3-1 overall, 2-1 WAC).

Chris Hanifin posted eight saves to record the win in goal for the Hilltoppers, while goalkeeper Rickey Jasewicz made 11 saves for St. Johnsville/Oppenheim-Ephratah.

Mekeel Christian 5, Mayfield 4

SCOTIA - Tai Aderounmu and Kenny Aderounmu each scored twice to lead Mekeel Christian Academy to a 5-4 WAC North Division win over Mayfield.

Shawn King scored the game-winning goal for the Lions in the 71st minute.

The teams combined for seven second-half goals after the first half ended in a 1-1 tie.

Dylan Toscano had a hat trick to lead Mayfield (0-2 overall, 0-2 WAC), while Todd Briggs had a goal and an assist.

Josh Ivancic also had an assist for the Panthers, who were outshot 15-13.

Mayfield goalkeeper Ryan Hennessy made eight saves, while Rhani Zuronda stopped nine shots for Mekeel Christian (1-0 overall, 1-0 WAC).

Canajoharie 4, Sharon Springs 1

SHARON SPRINGS - Canajoharie scored a pair of late goals to post a WAC Central Division win over Sharon Springs.

Mike Mazzarella had a goal and three assists for Canajoharie (1-2 overall, 1-2 WAC), while Zachary Bowerman had a goal and an assist. Logan Sala and Karl Gustafson also scored for the Cougars.

Vernon Kennedy scored the lone goal for Sharon Springs (0-3 overall, 0-3 WAC).

Chris Deyette made eight saves to earn the win in goal for Canajoharie.

Duanesburg 2, Schoharie 2

SCHOHARIE - Richie Martino and William Vedder scored for Schoharie (2-0-1 overall, 2-0-1 WAC) in a tie with Duanesburg in a WAC South Division contest.

Hassad Abdulmagid and Chris Smalls scored for Duanesburg (0-3-1 overall, 0-2-1 WAC).

Berne-Knox-Westerlo 1, Middleburgh 0

BERNE - Nick Nagengast scored the game's only goal to lift Berne-Knox-Westerlo to a WAC South Division win over Middleburgh.

Trevor Haack made 10 saves to earn the shutout win in goal for BKW (2-1 overall, 2-1 WAC).

Austin Smith made eight saves for Middleburgh (1-2 overall, 1-2 WAC).

Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference

Minerva-Newcomb 7, Wells 1

OLMSTEDVILLE - Wesley LaBar scored three goals to power Minerva-Newcomb to a win over Wells.

Joao Seilva scored twice for the Mountaineers (1-1 overall, 1-1 MVAC), while Elias Arens and Jorge Bertomeu also scored.

Matt Michienzi scored the lone goal for Wells (1-1 overall, 1-1 MVAC).

Alex Ruzbacki made six saves for Minerva-Newcomb. Ben Brenan made 12 stops for Wells.
