Dorothy Romeo Gatto Viscusi, 86, of Lakeland, Florida, died peacefully with her loving family by her side on September 5, 2012. Her life was a special gift to everyone who knew her.
Dorothy was born November 8, 1925, in Amsterdam, N.Y., the child of Demetrio Romeo and Mariangela Minniti. She was married to Joseph Gatto on November 10, 1946, from Amsterdam, N.Y. and Joseph Viscusi on April 20, 1952, from Gloversville, New York.
Dorothy spent most of her career as a sales associate for a high-end fashion boutique. Dorothy moved to Florida in 1995. Her favorite pastimes were visiting with family and friends, playing cards and grocery shopping. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and Nana.
Dorothy leaves her daughter, Donna (Circe) D'Agostino-Fraley and husband, George of Lakeland, Florida; son, Joseph Viscusi Jr. and wife, Joyce, also of Lakeland, Florida; cherished grandchildren, Brett (Jonna) Circe, Jenifer Viscusi, Joseph (Desiree) Viscusi III and Jacqueline Viscusi; adoring great-grandchildren, Jeannette and Breanna Circe; devoted sister, Elvira Sapia; and many loving members of her extended family.
Dorothy was predeceased by her spouse, Joseph Gatto (July 8, 1947) and spouse, Joseph Viscusi (April 29, 1994). She was also predeceased by her siblings, Josephine Della Vecchia (Oct. 7, 1997), Jenny Romeo (December 1989) Anthony Romeo (Jan. 15, 1977), Frank Romeo (Oct. 13, 1933), Rose Cincotta (1993), Charles Romeo (May 31, 2001) and Paul Romeo (Nov. 11, 1981).
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at noon at Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, N.Y. An interment will immediately follow Dorothy's service, at St Patrick's Cemetery, Johnstown, N.Y. All arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Funeral Home.
