H.S. Football Roundup: Cougars roll past Lake George

CANAJOHARIE - Kevin Shannon rushed for 197 yards and three touchdowns to power Canajoharie to a 37-6 win over Lake George in a Class D contest Friday.

Shannon scored on runs of 74, 6 and 13 yards for the Cougars, who raced out to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter.

Alex Renzi rushed for 112 yards, including a 47-yard touchdown, on nine carries for Canajoharie (2-0 overall).

Nick Taylor was 5-for-10 for 113 yards for the Cougars, including a 60-yard touchdown pass to Dillan Veeder. Veeder finished with three catches for 96 yards.

Justin Bramer added a sack for a safety to round out the Canajoharie scoring.

The Cougars' defense held the Warriors to just 177 total yards. Veeder had an interception for Canajoharie, while Tyler Belmonte added a fumble recovery. Zach Folts added a blocked punt and a blocked extra point. Bramer, Belmonte, Renzi and Josh Kost each had a sack for the Cougars.

Tyler Brown threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Willie Blunt for Lake George's lone score.

Thomas Clark had 76 yards on 14 carries for the Warriors (0-2 overall).

The Cougars will travel to Hoosic Valley on Sept. 15 for a 1 p.m. contest.

ROTTERDAM?- Geo Rodriguez completed seven passes for 163 yards and three touchdowns, leading Amsterdam to a win over Mohonasen.

Brett Stanavich also collected 174 yard on 19 carries and scored three touchdowns for the Rugged Rams (1-1 overall). Rodriguez completed two touchdown passes to Rob Sherlock and one to Luis Laboy.

Vinny DiTripano scored two touchdowns for Mohonasen (1-1 overall) and Trevon Tucker had one.
