JOHNSTOWN - A Gloversville sex offender pleaded guilty Tuesday in Fulton County Court to failure to register and now faces state prison time.

Charles W. Guyer, 53, of Washington Street, pleaded guilty before Judge Richard C. Giardino to one felony count of failure to register as a sex offender. He had been charged by Gloversville police July 14 with failure to register or verify.

Sentencing was adjourned until Oct. 30, but Guyer is expected to receive one to three years in state prison.

In another case Tuesday, William F. Sawyer, 50, of 813 N. Bush Road, town of Johnstown, was arraigned on an indictment charging him with one felony count of driving while ability impaired by drugs and one misdemeanor count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Sawyer was originally charged May 24 by Fulton County sheriff's deputies after his pickup truck took down a telephone pole on Route 10. Deputies said at the time he was in possession of a shotgun and was a convicted felon.
