Edward F. Hasenfuss, 88, of County Highway 110, Broadalbin, died at home on Sunday, September 2, 2012.
He was born in Amsterdam on September 30, 1923, a son of William and Freida Bush Hasenfuss and was a graduate of Amsterdam High School. Mr. Hasenfuss lived in Broadalbin for the past 58 years.
He was employed at the Gloversville-Johnstown Waste Water Treatment Plant for 25 years, retiring in 1985.
Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and proudly served during World War II as a pilot.
He was a member and former officer of the Johnstown Moose Lodge.
He was married to Norma Buckler for 33 years until her death and was later married to Betty Evans for 16 years until her death. In addition, he was predeceased by two brothers, Frederick and William Hasenfuss Jr.; and four sisters, Esther Crouch, Frieda Yurgans, Helen Reed, and Rena Houghton.
Survivors include a son, William (Karen) Hasenfuss of Mayfield; a daughter, Janet (Butch) Austin of Gloversville; a brother, Robert (Shirley) Hasenfuss of Amsterdam; a sister, Carol (Ken) Barton of Oregon; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation will be performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A private graveside service will be held at Green Hill Cemetery, Amsterdam. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mayo Clinic, in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106, Johnstown.
