James "Jimbo" Colson Sr., 58, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, after battling cancer. James was born on December 22, 1953, to the late Charles and Catherine Minni Colson.
Jimbo will be remembered for his love of family and friends, and for being a friend to many. He will also be remembered for his love of racing. Jimbo's favorite tracks were Fonda Speedway and Glenridge Track, where he often helped out and worked. He also loved to fish, hunt, swim, go sledding, camping and surround himself with laughter.
He married Viola Harrington on August 23, 2003. She survives him. Jimbo was employed by N.A. Taylor in the boating department, and various leather mills in the area.
Jimbo is survived by his wife, Viola of Gloversville; his children, Angelique Gowans, James (Margaret) Colson Jr., Kathy Oeser (Shawn Andersen), all of Gloversville; his stepchildren, Kenneth Wilson of Gloversville, Daniel (Chrissy) Wilson of Glens Falls, Jeannie Jennings (Randy Fuller) of Johnstown and Paula (John) Hughes of North Carolina; his siblings, Christopher of Virginia, Charles (Sharon) of Gloversville, Harold (Patricia) of Gloversville, Fredrick (Myra) Steenberg, Richard Steenberg of Caroga Lake and Barbara Phillips of Gloversville; also surviving are several nieces and nephews; 30 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Amico Funeral Home, 150 South Main Street, Gloversville, N.Y. Cremation will take place at Leatherstocking Crematory, Cherry Valley, N.Y.
