Enter annual crop walk to fight hunger

September 3, 2012
The Leader Herald

To all concerned for those who are hungry:

Local food pantries are in dire need of supplies to keep their shelves stocked. The sad news is people in our own community and worldwide need assistance to feed their families. The good news is: We can help benefit local food pantries and world hunger.

Enter the annual crop walk, named this year the Jack "Bulldog" Schreivogl/Twin City Crop Walk to honor and recognize the man who has single-handedly raised more than $30,000 in the past 30 years. Wow!

If you can walk - great. If you can sponsor a walker - great. If you can donate money to the cause - great.

This year's walk will be held Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. The 3-mile trek will begin and end at the Grace Lutheran Church (formerly Christ Lutheran), 1 W. Montgomery St., Johnstown. Light refreshments will be provided in the fellowship hall at the church following the walk.

Please consider participating.

Donations may be sent to: Grace Lutheran Church, Attn: Joan Longfritz, 1 W. Montgomery St., Johnstown, NY 12095-2409.

Walkers may sign up and collect a donation envelope at the church or call 762-7924 or register in advance if they choose to do so. People also may call 725-6781 with any questions.

We hope to see you there.
