Herkimer volleyball kicks off season

HERKIMER - Johnstown graduate Brynn Hlozansky, a freshman on the Herkimer County Community College women's volleyball team, had seven kills, two assists, four blocks and nine digs as the Generals opened the season Saturday.

Hlozanski had three kills, seven digs, two blocks and an assist in a 2-0 loss (25-23, 25-10) to Butler Community, College, while posted four kills and six digs in a 2-0 win (25-14, 25-10) over Baltimore Community College.

In the final match of the day, Hlozansky had two blocks, two digs and an assist in a 2-0 loss (25-17, 25-19) to Alfred State.

Oppenheim-Ephratah's Ashleigh Copeland and Mayfield's Whiitney Ostrander are also on the Herkimer roster.

Herkimer (1-2 overall) will host Columbia-Greene on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
