Area runners compete for Sage women

UTICA - Sage College had its newest team, the women's cross country squad make its debut Saturday as the Gator women competed at the SUNY-IT Wildcat Invitational.

William Smith College won the 5k meet with an impressive score of 42, while Sage's women's team tied for third with the Culinary Institute as both teams posted a score of 125 in the 14-team race. SUNY-ESF posted a second place finish with 60 points.

Broadalbin-Perth graduate Anna McConnell was 113th for Sage with a time of 30:50.3, while Amsterdam graduate Shelbi Montanaro was 128th with a time of 41:52.0.
