John and Colette Bates of Johnstown announce the engagement of their daughter, Samantha Marie Bates of Gloversville, to Christopher Coppola, the son of Michael and Karen Coppola of St. Johnsville.
Bates is a 2005 graduate of Johnstown High School and a 2011 graduate of the State University of New York College at Potsdam, St. Lawrence County, with a bachelor's degree in elementary education.
Coppola is a 2006 graduate of Johnstown High School and a 2011 graduate of Clarkson University with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He is employed as a technician for Direct TV.
