H.S. Football Roundup: Amsterdam loses in Edick’s debut as Rams’ head coach

September 1, 2012
The Leader Herald

AMSTERDAM - Averill Park fullback Nick Valenti and quarterback Taylor Hotaling combined for 209 yards and four touchdowns, leading Averill Park to a 30-24 win over Amsterdam in a Class A crossover game Friday.

With the game tied at 24-24 in the fourth quarter, Mike Hayes scored on a 4-yard run to give the Warriors the victory. Hotaling also tipped a pass by quarterback Julian Gallup with 2:50 remaining in the game to stop a drive by the Rugged Rams, who still had a chance to score in the final seconds. However Gallup's pass was out of the reach of running back Brett Stanavich.

Stanavich scored all three of the touchdowns for Amsterdam (0-1 overall). Marcus Pritchard kicked a 23-yard field goal in the third quarter. He also converted all three of his extra points.
