Thanks for supporting Railfest 2012

September 1, 2012
The Leader Herald

On Aug. 4, we held the eighth annual Railfest in Trail Station Park, despite the weather forecast.

I would like to say thank you to the 2012 Railfest Committee: Kelly and Rob Curtis, Maura Kuehling, Logan Barclay, Marie Born, Yokie Bertos, George Walker III, and Dick and Sharon Ottalagano for your hard work and dedication for bringing Railfest together.

For those who do not know, this committee is made up of volunteers who donate their time to bring this community event together. I applaud their hard work and dedication. To the Gloversville Department of Public Works, a special thank you for your support also.

I also would like to say thank you to all the volunteers for the long hours and hard work they put in the day of Railfest. We would not be able to get through the day without each and every one of you.

Thanks to the many vendors who came and set up their booths; to entertainers Smalltown Hip DJ, Emily Smith, James Frederick, Love City Band with Cardio, South Hollywood Performers and Beth Zaje for donating their time to provide us with music throughout the day, (and for taking a chance despite the weather and all the technical difficulties); to the area businesses for their monetary or supply donations; to our sponsors, Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home, Frontier Communications, Fage, the Fulton County Regional Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Gloversville True Value Hardware, Judge John N. Clo and family, Gloversville Teachers Association, Glove Cities Rotary, Concordia Singing Society, Fulton County Federal Credit Union; and last but not least, to the community for coming out and showing their support and helping us raise money for the Gloversville Little Huskies Football League. With everyone's efforts, we will be donating $3,500 to the Little Huskies program from money raised from Railfest. From the children's games proceeds, a donation of $500 will be donated to Girl Scout Troop No. 2275.

This event would not be a success if it weren't for all of us coming together to show support for our community. Again, thank you. We look forward to seeing you again at next year's Railfest on Aug. 3, 2013. If you are interested in getting involved with Railfest planning, email
