Robert J. Valachovic, age 71, of Johnstown, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, after being stricken at home.
He was born on November 14, 1940, in Johnstown. He was the son of the late Edward D. Valachovic and Martha Rogers Valachovic, who died in 2009 and 2011.
Robert was a class of 1958 graduate of Johnstown High School. He worked for many years at the former Fulton County National Bank as a bank clerk. He also spent his time throughout his life buying and renovating homes.
Robert was a parishioner of the former St. Anthony's Church and regularly attended Mass until the time of his passing. He was raised Catholic, educated in his elementary school years Catholic and had a very strong Catholic faith.
Robert was truly a selfless individual. He had the kindest heart and always had a positive wisdom to share. Robert spent his life caring for others, especially his family. He was devoted to them in every way. His great-nephews, Robby and Tate, were the light of his life. He cherished every moment with them. He would have given them the world if he could. "Uncle Baba" will be dearly missed. He was the best and that will never be forgotten.
In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by one brother, Edward J. Valachovic; and one sister Gail Valachovic.
Survivors include one sister, Patricia Harris of Johnstown; and beloved niece, Traci Siebel and husband, Thomas of Albany; two beloved great-nephews, Robert and Tate Siebel and Robert and Cathy Schuyler of Johnstown.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 1, at Holy Trinity Church, Glebe Street, Johnstown. The Rev. Thomas Morrette will be the celebrant. The family would like to ask those who plan on attending, to arrive at 11:15 a.m. for a eulogy in Robert's memory.
Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
