Mr. Wilhelm H. "Bill" Berger Jr., 73, of Gloversville, passed away August 28, 2012, at Mountain Valley Hospice House. He was born March 10, 1939, in Gloversville, son of the late Wilhelm H. and Erna Meinicke Berger Sr.
Mr. Berger was educated in Gloversville schools and a lifelong resident.
Bill had been employed with the Fulton County Highway Department for many years, retiring in 2007 from blacktopping. Involved with equipment and machinery all his life, Bill especially loved his John Deere tractor. If he wasn't helping a friend or neighbor, Bill could be found caring for his own garden, which he enjoyed so much. Bill was a life member of the Concordia Singing Society and a member of the chorus. He was also a member of the Meco Volunteer Fire Department and The Church of the Holy Spirit.
He is survived by his wife, Pyhllis Wheeler Berger of Gloversville, whom he married June 6, 1965. Bill is also survived by his brother, Richard Berger (Patricia) of Gloversville; brother-in-law, Herbert Wheeler (Nancy) of Gloversville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, August 31, 2012, at Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, with Reverend Donald Czelusniak officiating. The family will receive friends today from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
