William Henry Cook, age 73, of Gloversville, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at the Wells Nursing Home after fighting a long, courageous battle with two devastating diseases.
He was born on December 4, 1938, in Central Bridge, the son of the late Leroy Marvin Cook and Eva Mae Moister Cook.
William became a pilot at age 16 and continued his education, graduating from Draper High School in 1956. He was a career aviator, piloting aircraft for Page Airways, Altair Airlines and Signature Charter, retiring in 1994.

William served in the United States Air Force National Guard from 1956-1962.
Survivors include one sister, Margaret Romaine of Gloversville; three nieces, Kimberly Smith of Johnstown, Pamela Hopkins of Gloversville and Debbie Littleton of Texas; two great-nieces, Alyssa Smith and Leandra Smith; and one great-nephew, Travis Grissom; special friends, Helen Foster and Brenda Dufel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 2, at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the funeral service from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Private interment will be in Bramanville Prospect Cemetery, Howes Cave.
