Experience not decisive

August 29, 2012
The Leader Herald

In Lance M. Gundersen's letter to the editor concerning three attorneys running for Gloversville City Court judge, he stated that attorney Traci DiMezza has no experience in criminal law.

Well, Gloversville Mayor Dayton King had no experience in being a mayor or running a city.

Attorney Matt Trainor has experience in criminal law as assistant district attorney. Gundersen didn't state what the defamatory comments in the lawsuit pertain to. He could be innocent, perhaps until a verdict is issued. As for Judge John Clo, Gundersen did not state his conviction rate or why he was not elected district attorney. He was appointed to his position without any experience as a judge. It is up to the voters to decide: Is he going to clean up the mess in Gloversville or is he going to go with the flow?

Gundersen pointed out that attorney Trainor filed an appeal in the Kinderhook case but did nothing to defend the city from this tax-depleting project that has been foisted upon the residents of the north end. But did you ask him what happened? I asked him why he left the district attorney's office and if he got along with Fulton?County District?Attorney Louise Sira. Trainor said he got along fine with Sira, but had to leave because of a medical problem in his family.

We keep voting for our future, and what do we get? Higher taxes. Law enforcement took a nose dive - no more drug raids, no more gambling raids and everything is the parents' fault. We need someone like Judge Richard Giardino to come back as the district attorney and get this county cleaned up.
