Watka "Waddie" Hastings, 87, of Hilltop Drive, Edinburg, died Saturday, August 25, 2012, at the Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, following a long illness. She was born on January 15, 1925, in Poland, the daughter of the late Felix and Sophie Soltes Stronczek.
She was employed as a clerk at the Grand Union in Northville, Burnt Hills, Gloversville, and Glenville and also worked for Woolworths for many years. In her later years she enjoyed painting.
She was married to Robert L. Hastings, who died February 9, 1989.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Hastings Jr. of Saratoga and Peter Hastings of Northville; one daughter, Judith Suski of Middletown; two sisters, Phyllis Hines of Durham and Virginia VanTassel of East Durham. Seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews also survive her. She was predeceased by her sister, Laura Bernard.
Friends may call on Thursday, August 30, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Broadalbin. Burial will be in Robinson Cemetery, Edinburg.
