GLOVERSVILLE - July unemployment rates remained similar to those of the first six months of the year with Hamilton County having the best in the state at 5.3 percent, almost two percent lower than the next lowest county, according to numbers from the State Labor Department.

Meanwhile, Fulton and Montgomery Counties continue to be among the highest with each having unemployment rates of 10.9 percent. Only four counties - Bronx (13.9 percent), Orleans (11.3 percent), St. Lawrence (11.1 percent) and Kings (11 percent) - have a higher unemployment rate.

Job seekers entering the labor force or entering it for the first time in New York state increased by 9.8 percent compared to the national rate of 0.4 percent, the release said.
