AMSTERDAM-A Gloversville man was charged Wednesday night after city police said they discovered crack cocaine in a vehicle.

Gary A. Robinson, 26, of 129 Fulton St., Gloversville, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

He was taken into custody and transported to Amsterdam police headquarters, where he was processed and held pending arraignment.

The driver of the Jeep Cherokee in which Robinson was riding was stopped at a traffic safety-road check on East Main Street, officer said. They said they smelled the odor of marijuana while speaking with the occupants.

With assistance from a K-9 unit, officers said they found a quantity of crack in the vehicle. An investigation showed that the crack belonged to Robinson, police said.
